Giulia Borsi and Cecilia Botta, local illustrators exhibit in DoInItaly
For both young illustrators, art is inspired by our land, with a fresh and original trait
In the DoInItaly Showroom we host the works of Giulia Borsi and Cecilia Botta, young local artists.
Cecilia and Giulia share the gaze on nature strongly inspired by Liguria and its landscapes, as well as the minimalist and essential trait of the illustrations, which is also recognizable as a typical feature of the region and its inhabitants.
For Cecilia, who works mainly as an illustrator for several publishing houses and graphic studios for which she handles graphic projects, the theme of nature is accompanied by the dream-like and fantastic leitmotiv, in a delicate union that brings the mind back to the fairy tale, to the narration for kids who always reignite a small flame even in adults.
In her illustrations the color, the contrast between tones enhances the fusion between the reality and fantasy.
In Giulia’s illustrations, love and interest in nature is expressed in hand-made pencil drawings that reveal a great interest in detail, a scientific cure in the pursuit of detail. Her illustrations are reminiscent of those of the librettos of naturalist or medical experimenters of the past, with a more marked personality, and also in the choice of contemporary subjects. This is how a scooter, a symbol of Made in Italy, is represented in its functional simplicity, in the same way as the perfect symmetry of the butterfly.
