Lunigiana

Lunigiana is a region that embraces mountains, hills and sea, passing through many small rivers. The territory touches Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Liguria.
The inhabitants consider themselves “descendants" of the historical population that lived on the Apuane Alps the “Apuani".
Villages, castles, churches and museums tell the rich and troubled history over the centuries.
The Statues of the Stele are a little symbol of what is the “prehistory" in Lunigiana, can be visited at the Museum of the Stele Statues of Lunigiana in Pontremoli in the Castello del Pignaro.

Countless and characteristic villages are scattered throughout the Lunigianese territory. This type of construction offers the visitor in addition to the mere vision of groups of tunnels (in which to venture) that lead into the medieval squares but also that feeling of “ancient", almost like a journey through time … The rich food and wine of the region is based on products from the rural tradition.
